My story

How Ascent came about.

I’ve been in the garage door trade for more than 11 years. I started Ascent about three years ago for a simple reason: I wanted to measure, quote and install every job personally, rather than hand the work to a call centre or a rotating crew. Since then I’ve personally installed around 500 doors across Geelong, the Surf Coast and Bellarine, on top of more than 5,000 over my full career in the trade.

It’s a family-run operation, and that shapes how we work day to day. Most of the time the honest answer isn’t the most expensive one – I’d rather recommend the right-sized fix than push a bigger sale I don’t believe in.

What I work on

The work, in short.

Installation, replacement, repairs, servicing and automation – across roller, sectional, tilt and custom doors. Most of my work is new builds, with builders across Geelong’s growth corridors calling on me directly, alongside replacements and service calls on established homes.

Trusted brands

The doors I install most often.

Recommendations are based on long-term experience with each brand on local homes – not on which supplier offers the best margin.

B&D
Australia’s most recognised garage door brand. Reliable, widely stocked and well supported for future servicing.
Danmar
A strong Australian-made option with a broad colour range and a solid track record on the coast.
Gliderol
Long-standing local manufacturer with well-priced roller and sectional doors that hold up over time.

FAQ

About Alec & the business.

Practical questions homeowners ask before deciding which garage door to choose.

More than 11 years in the trade, across residential and light-commercial work throughout Geelong, the Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula. I started Ascent about three years ago.

Yes. There’s no subcontracted quoting or installation – I measure, quote and install every job myself, so the person you speak to on the phone is the person who turns up at your place.

B&D, Danmar and Gliderol. Those recommendations come from long-term experience with how each performs on local homes over years of servicing – not from which supplier offers the best margin.

Honestly, go with whoever gives you the most confidence. What I offer is straightforward: one person doing the measure, the quote and the install, a 12-month workmanship guarantee, and advice that stays the same whether it leads to a sale or not.
